What to do if you find a sick or injured pony on the moor......
We receive many calls from concerned members of the public with regard to welfare concerns on Bodmin Moor.
Sadly as a charity we have no jurisdiction on the commons & are not allowed to physically intervene to help any ponies ourselves however we are always here to support & advise in whatever way we can & are happy to discuss or pass any concerns to the relevant authorities.
Should you find a sick or injured pony (or any other livestock) on the moor in any area of the U.K, like ourselves, the first point of call should be to the local Livestock Protection Officer who will then liaise with the relevant pony keepers, agisters (New Forest) etc or if necessary attending/government vets (APHA).
Should you be involved in a collision with any livestock including ponies you should also make contact with the Police.

In the whole all free living ponies in the U.K are Semi Feral & have owners & whilst we understand completely how frustrating it is when we suspect basic welfare needs are not being met, there are certain procedures that have to be followed in order to ensure legislation under 'the animal welfare act 2006' can be enforced
