About
A little about the core team members
Hi, I'm Shelley, founder of BMPR.
A lifelong pony owner BMPR has been my life since founded in April 2014. I eat, sleep & breath our ponies & organisation as I'm pretty much the sole day to day pony carer, welfare officer, admin & driving force behind the charity.
In 2017 I was lucky to be given the opportunity to study with The Horse Trust & qualified as one of the U.K's only 17 Equine Legislation, Welfare & Field Skills - Field Officers through Lantra Awards in 2019. I am also a qualified Equine Facilitated Learning Facilitator. I am passionate about holistic horse health & am due to qualify in Innate Botanical Selections a practice based around the principles of Zoopharmacognacy & have CPD in many aspects of supporting horses health & ailments through herbs. I practice Reiki healing & animal communication. I am also studying Equine Ethology & Applying The Five Domains Model to the Welfare Assessment of Horses.
I work full time for the charity on a 100% voluntary basis
The ponies that we help are my life & all part of the family & there's nothing more rewarding than helping them flourish & being part of their bright new futures.
Hi, I'm Harley, co-founder of BMPR.
I started my relationship with horses as a 10 year old & 20 odd years later they are still very much my life. After leaving school in 2012 I pursued a career within the equine sector but sadly due to a back injury I had to put these dreams aside & moved back to the South East to complete a degree in Psychology whilst still playing an active part within the charity as a Trustee, However recently I have been spending more time back in Cornwall in a more hands on role & whilst initially I was helping to advance some of our current & past residents into a ridden careers I have developed a connection with Equine Behaviour & Psychology through working with some of our more complex residents & my whole ethos of horsemanship has changed & am undertaking lots of CPD in the subject in the hope to become an Equine Behaviourist in the future. I love to watch our residents grow in confidence & feel so privileged to be part of their bright & positive futures.
